The Traveling Pants Are Still Lost in Greece!

Here is a secret of mine: I have always wanted to go to Greece ever since I watched the movie “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” directed by Ken Kwapis in 2005. In the movie, three of the best friends travel while one stays behind for the summer. Lena, a girl in the group of the best friends, goes to Santorini Island, Greece. She learns a lot about herself as she has always held back how much of an artist she is, how courageous, and brave she is. She meets a boy, who makes her live freely, which her family did not like.

This was the summer that changed everything for Lena, and the following summer, her friends follow her there to have that experience with her. Greece opened up parts of her and her friends because they weren’t afraid to make that jump, or touch that fish for the first time.  Not only did I learn so much about Greece in this movie, I learned that I wanted more than just to see it on TV. I wanted to be there making that same jump, and making memories that would last forever too.

Some would say after seeing this movie that it was the pants that happened to fit these girls at all different shapes and sizes that they shared, but it was Greece that brought them back together. It was the people they met, the donkey’s they traveled on for the first time (leaving one of the friends on the ground), and for making that jump. Greece seems to be a place of spontaneous times and bubbly feelings of hope. Between growing up on this movie and growing up as a girl like Lena, I would say a trip like this would be enough to bring me out of my comfort zone (which is what everyone needs every once in a while). I’ve grown up around water since the day I could walk, not swim, but walk, and Greece is filled with waters that I must dive into. 100 islands, 1 cliff, 2 girls, and the summer of a lifetime. That will be me with my best friend Ashleigh Nicole Dietz!

Maybe we won’t find the lost pants of these four best friends while in Greece, but we will find that cliff that changed their lives forever. Life is all about risk and it requires you to jump. Don’t be a person who has to look back and wonder what they would’ve or could’ve had. No one lives forever. If there is a place in this world that I’m jumping into on my last life, it’s going to be in Santorini Island, Greece with my best friend.

Feeling Lucky, or Just Irish? Because We’re Going to Ireland!

I knew Ireland was known for it’s green landscapes, but I didn’t know that I would be seeing Medieval Kilkenny. Ireland has more to it than just it’s beauty, it has history. History that I didn’t even know would interest me. I can get a tour that is called the “Medieval Mile” where I could literally feel what others who have walked before me have felt. I could learn about their rich memories, lessons, and time before me. The walk is two and a half hours of touring some of the oldest castles, stoned steps, and the original four towers. I am breathless to see photos of such art that the people before us have made. We’re looking at architecture that dates back to the 13th Century. Doesn’t that make you wonder what life was like before us? What they were like? I mean the history is just astonishing. It’s remarkable that it holds well today for people to view and learn about these places and the residents who once lived there.

Ireland is a magical place of great timing. When would that timing be? Join Ireland in the months of September, October, November, March, April, and May. The winters tend to be much more freezing than our miss little New Hampshire. I personally would enjoy Ireland in the fall because fall is my mom and I’s favorite season of the year. If I were to leave next fall for Ireland, it wouldn’t be without her. My mom and I have talked about Ireland my whole life, and it’s something I couldn’t experience without her. Why are we so drawn to Ireland? Well Ireland is, like I said, a magical and very green place.  From my mom and I’s first moments, I remember Ireland being the first ever mother daughter trip. My mom wanted to see Ireland for it’s impeccable tours, and I was always more interested in the drinking age (joke).

If it’s not obvious from the picture above, we would be staying in Dublin, Ireland. This lake, lake Killarney, would be the perfect spot for my mom and I to try canoeing without her flipping it over a spider, like in lake Raymond in Maine.  It would be great to find our way down here, take a canoe ride, thousands of pictures, and eat right there in the middle of the colorful and beautiful lake. My mom would also enjoy the chance to sip Irish Whiskey while pairing it with farmhouse cheese. I’m not making this blog post to talk about a place I will never go because believe me, I am going with my mom to this incredible place someday. Let me know if you want to hear about it from someone who has seen these views in person. I need to start saving!

Jamaica(in) Me Crazy!

Jamaica is known for it’s exotic beaches and luxurious resorts, but have you ever considered being married in Jamaica or having your honeymoon there? If you’ve never, maybe this could change your mind. Jamaica has a resort, Secrets Resort, located in St. James Montego Bay. It holds rooms that would simply take your breath away, some including private terraces for relaxation with your partner/friend/family. There are many restaurants on this resort that serve local and international foods on the menu. With this resort comes 24 hour amiable services from staff (everyone’s favorite, room service). The food services are all prepared by professional and experienced chefs. The resort also has it’s own personal spa that offers multiple treatments for relaxation during your stay. With all of that being said, I want to remind you that they do offer full services for weddings as well as any accommodations for honeymoons as well. Did Someone Say Bali?

Bali is known for many grand adventures and sites to see. There are many reasons that this beautiful place in Asia is so attractive to women and men of all ages. Bali’s landscape holds many mountains, volcanoes, and parks that can be visited while traveling this area. This incredible island holds Banyan trees that thrive in it’s villages, as well as many species of coconut palms and bamboo species. From their gentle jasmines and graceful water lilies, to adventures such as full-day passes in scuba diving, to white water rafting, to Bali swing volcano tours, how can it get any better than this? Bali is not only the place to vacation, but it’s a place of great culture and divine foliage. After looking at prices of excursions and other fun pursuits, I would say that Bali is a great place to vacation for all. The excursions I have mentioned before can be found on the Trip Advisor website. It also mentions a chauffeur for a great deal assuming that many people that travel to Bali will need a way of getting place to place.  There are many stunning places to see in this world, but there is only one Bali.

Hello World

Hi there! My name is Amy Hyder. I am a traveling guru. Traveling has been in my life since the day I could walk. I’ve always seen airplanes as getting me to my next destination. It’s always been an “if not now, when?” with my family and friends. We live very in the moment, even if that means buying more plane tickets than coffee in the early mornings. This world is so big, and it’s always sharing something new and exciting with me.

About

If not now, when? Life has given us feet that are not rooted, so I don’t believe we were made to stay in one place for too long. There is so much inspiration in the world, and what’s inspiring to me could be inspiring to you. The key to life is never taking it for granted. Learning new languages, finding new friends, and being around different cultures can give us a bigger perspective. Give me a plane ticket, a coffee, and I will be on my next journey. Come to my blog and experience the perspectives of different travels I have been on and hope to one day go on.
